Santa Barbara High School would not be complete without its rich tradition of extra-curricular programs. Our students have the opportunity to take part in an athletics department that is second to none in our region. League and state championships in Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Water Polo, Baseball, and other sports serve as a backdrop to the achievement that our scholar-athletes are truly proud of - 21 SBHS teams with an average GPA over 3.0.

When our students aren't cheering on the Dons in athletic competition, they are competing in mock trial or hosting a political symposium with a local member of Congress or the Mayor of Santa Barbara. Service to the community is an expected outcome of life outside the classroom -- as our graduating class showed this year, accumulating more than 60,000 hours of service.

There are many other extra-curricular pursuits that help to define the SBHS experience. Crowds regularly cheer on our award-winning marching band, a cappella choir, and drumline. Our century-old theater is home to Broadway and student-produced musicals every year. Our student body is regularly treated to independent short films produced in one of our television studios, and our community takes advantage of a student-run tax return program that netted more than $600,000 in tax returns for low-income and elderly families ... last year alone.
