Multimedia Arts & Design Academy

The Multimedia Arts and Design Academy (MAD) - Santa Barbara's first State-sponsored Partnership Academy - offers students an academically integrated, career-oriented opportunity to pursue training in media arts and technology. Anchored in the traditional arts, the MAD academy features introductory and advanced courses in a technologically-based "school within a school" setting. Key elements of the MAD academy include its small size - approximately 150 students from grades 10 to 12 - and its active partnership with Santa Barbara City College. Students taking advanced classes through MAD are eligible for SBCC credit upon successful completion of the course.

The Multimedia Academy (MAD) will begin Accepting applications for the Fall 08 term beginning November 26. Applications returned before the Winter Holiday break will be reviewed for early admission. Decisions for early admission will be made prior to the beginning of the second semester of this school year. The deadline for all applications will be April 15 with final decisions being made by April 30th.

All applicants and their parents must attend ONE group interview prior to a decision being rendered. All relevant dates are provided below. A pre-Academy computer art course titled Digital Imaging 1, MAT 131 will be offered in the spring semester. Although this course is not a prerequisite for admission to MAD it will provide a good computer art foundation for all applicants.

Thank you for your interest in the Multimedia Academy.
